Here are several aerial views of Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville, Maryland, captured from Microsoft’s Bing search engine in 2014, and probably taken between 2010 and 2014. As with the aerials of Lorraine Park Cemetery, I’ve annotated these to be used as aids in locating graves. My Dowell forebears, who are my mother’s family, are interred here (for more on that, click here).
My grandmother and grandfather Dowell were both still living when I last visited Baltimore. My mother (née Barbara Lee Dowell) and her younger brother Jack (John Lewis Dowell III) were also quick (and still are in January 2015), so in 1992 there would only have been the grave of their little sister Lucinda May here, which I neglected to visit. She died of cancer in 1964, when I was about two years old.
There is a single large standing stone here bearing the family’s surname, and now three smaller personal markers, an older one for my Aunt Cindy (Lucinda May) Dowell, and newer ones for her mother, Wilma Caroline (Rohde) Dowell, and her father, John Lewis Jr.
Just a few feet away from the Dowells, on the other side of the tree and next to the lane running along the west edge of the cemetery, are two Fleagles, Robert N. Jr. and his wife Georgia K. – mdf
