Benjamin Fleagle Jr.

Benjamin Fleagle II.

Benjamin Fleagle Jr., a.k.a. Benjamin II.

Benjamin Fleagle Jr.(August 24, 1842 – June 30, 1935), my great grandfather, was the son of “Elder Benjamin”. He married Martha Jane Harner, daughter of James and Susan Harner of Longville, which is northwest of Taneytown on the way to Harney. We often refer to him as Benjamin II. While I have never seen any explicit reference to his middle name, my grandfather James once referred to him in writing as Benjamin Fleagle Jr.. This man named his own son Benjamin Edward, and Benjamin Edward named his luckless son Benjamin Edward after him, so I have a feeling this man’s middle name may have been Edward as well, though as I said I have no proof. He was a mason and a farmer and it was he who built the piers for the footbridge at Roop’s Mill.
